An appearance in the first line of your essay! I'm astounded! And a doctor who said you were kissed by Jesus and side mirror on a BMW and a bird flying through the house and liquid detergent in the glove compartment - another "only you" but definitely not "only you" that was assaulted by a gyn. I remember an incident at Planned Parenthood when I was about 20 with a very good-looking doctor, no nurse in the room, and he made me feel...things. Was I assaulted? I never figured it out but I never forgot it. Anyway, Elizabeth, you are definitely an "only you," like no other.
Yes, E.Jean and Joyce are two people who continue to keep me feeling sane during these crazy times. Throw in Heather Cox Richardson, and we have a trifecta.
How I wish these women ruled the world, with intelligence and humor.
I've never shared this with anyone, but since this is a safe space, I will. For over 30 years, I thought the way my ob/gyn touched me was weird. It was shortly after the birth of my second child, and I just decided back then that I was overreacting. I never went back to him. Reading your piece reminded me of the experience. I've always wondered if this had happened to other women. Now I know.

I have you to thank.
